- Biography
Christopher Cree joined the Boys & Girls Club in 2009 as the Director of the Music & Arts Center (MAC) in Kennewick, WA. At the club Christopher teaches a variety of music and technology courses as well as managing the staff and facility. Christopher is very active in the Tri-Cities community as an arts leader and music educator. He is the principal percussionist of the Mid-Columbia Symphony and is currently serving as the Chair of the Education and Outreach Committee for the Mid-Columbia Symphony Board of Directors. Christopher teaches private music lessons from his home and teaches percussion students at Southridge High School, Columbia Basin College, and Walla Walla University. After graduating from Pasco High School in 1999, Christopher earned a B.A. in Music Performance from Eastern Washington University. In 2005 Christopher earned a Master's Degree in Music Performance from the Univerity of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and continued coursework towards a Doctorate in Musical Arts. In 2008 Christopher completed a research project in Pelotas, Brazil, in which he studied the music and culture of the escola de samba General Telles. Christopher is currently writing his dissertation on Brazilian Music and is incorporating findings from his research in music and diversity programming at the Boys & Girls Club.
