Brighter Horizons Celebrates National Boys & Girls Club Week

Brighter Horizons celebrated National Boys & Girls Club Week by highlighting the wonderful programs our club has to offer and how it impacts the lives of our youth and their children every day. Our children engaged in fun activities each day with our staff and student helpers. We had 11 of our teen parents, Principal, Christy Rasmussen and Teen Parenting teacher, Jackie Brewster joined us on Friday during lunch to play with the children outside in fun activities, like the parachute play, dancing with children and musical candy walk.

Brighter Horizons Moms featured in Calendar

Here is a sneak peak at two beautiful teen mom's with their precious children, that will be featured on next year's Pasco School District calendar!

Brighter Horizons has many talented students! They wrote an article about "Why they love Pasco Schools". I would tell you more.... but I have to save some for later.

Community Clean Up during B&GC Week

Torch Club members from our Main Branch Unit went to Wade Park on Wendnesday to participate in a community clean up. The members had fun helping out our community by making sure that the park was clean and taken care of.

National Boys & Girls Club week is a time to have some extra special fun! What says fun more than tons of balloons filled with prizes! The kids had a great time popping the balloons to find a special prize just for them.

Pasco Teen Center Members Attend National Keystone Conference

Four Teen Center Keystone members attended the National Keystone Conference March 22nd-25th in Dallas, TX. In addition to attending sessions throughout the day to help them understand how to better themselves and the club, the teens also got to hear from Keri Hilson and Miguel, two famous R&B singers who shared their motivational stories with the Keystoners.

2012 Washington State Youth of the Year Awarded


Brenna is a member of the Prosser branch. She is the first State Youth of the Year for our organization, and the first for Eastern Washington.

As the winner, she earned a $2,500 scholarship and will travel to Los Angeles for a week this summer to represent our state at the regional competition.

Columbia Basin Racquet Club Hosted the 2012 Raise-A-Racquet Dinner and Auction

PASCO, WA- Columbia Basin Racquet Club (CBRC) hosted the 2012 Raise-A-Racquet event, which benefits local Boys & Girls Club youth. The festivities kicked off Friday January 27th at CBRC with a dinner catered by Jacksons-Richland, as well as both live and silent auctions. Tennis pros from CBRC and the Tri-City Court Club donated their time and skills and were auctioned off to the highest bidder which was able to play with them in the tournament Saturday January 28th.

Club Member Accepted to National Teen Council

A BIG congratulations goes out to Kierstyn Ramos! She was accepted to serve on the 2012 Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s National Teen Advisory Council. Selecting teen representatives from across the country is always difficult and this year was no exception, as the number of qualified applicants increased greatly. Kierstyn, an 8th grader at McLoughlin Middle School, has been selected as one of twelve teens to serve on the Council. Again, congratulations!

Washington Oral Health Foundation

Wednesday, January 25th, the Washington Oral Health Foundation will be joining us at our Main Branch Drop In Unit to help teach the members about the importance of oral hygiene. We are excited to welcome them back to our Club to enrich and educate our Club kids. They will also be joining us at our Family Fun Night on Thursday to share their knowledge with all of our families. Thank you Washington Oral Health Foundation!

A Look Back at 2011

Some highlights at the Main Branch in Pasco for 2011.

  • We are excited to say that we served over 1,100 children who are not members with outreach activities in 2011
  • Main Branch served over 17,646 snacks and 2,277 meals in 2011
  • We hosted 9 Family Fun Nights for our members and their families, with over 1,880 in attendance
  • We offered 18 different Clubs for our members to join
  • Main Branch had 593 members enrolled throughout the course of the year
