Local Afterschool Program Awarded Funding

News of funding comes at an especially opportune time for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Benton and Franklin Counties as the economic recession continues to impact communities.

December 28, 2011 The Boys & Girls Clubs Ruth Livingston Branch received $3,000 as a Quality Enhancement grant from Schools Out Washington. Among 10 programs throughout the state to be awarded the grant, the Boys & Girls Clubs will use the funds to enhance its afterschool program and continue to provide high-quality programming to local youth ages 5-12.

December 15th Family Night a Success

December 2011 Family Fun Night 4

We had over 220 in attendance! It was amazing and the families had a great time watching the members perform. Cheerleading Club and Drama Club did a fantastic job and really enjoyed performing for the crowd. We were also lucky enough to have Jarred and his band perform as well.

Torch Club visiting Avalon

Torch Club is excited to be making their monthly field trip to Avalon on Wednesday, December 14th, to have some fun with the residents. They will be spreading some Christmas cheer as they have fun making an art project with the residents, and you never know impromptu Christmas Carols just might be sung!

Washington Oral Health Foundation

Wednesday, January 25th, the Washington Oral Health Foundation will be joining us at our Main Branch Drop In Unit to help teach the members about the importance of oral hygiene. We are excited to welcome them back to our Club to enrich and educate our Club kids. They will also be joining us at our Family Fun Night on Thursday to share their knowledge with all of our families. Thank you Washington Oral Health Foundation!

Club Member Accepted to National Teen Council

A BIG congratulations goes out to Kierstyn Ramos! She was accepted to serve on the 2012 Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s National Teen Advisory Council. Selecting teen representatives from across the country is always difficult and this year was no exception, as the number of qualified applicants increased greatly. Kierstyn, an 8th grader at McLoughlin Middle School, has been selected as one of twelve teens to serve on the Council. Again, congratulations!
