The Boys & Girls Clubs of Benton and Franklin Counties is proud to announce that it was chosen as one of 12 agencies throughout the community to participate in Micki McKinnon, a local State Farm agent & her husband, Rick’s 12-months-of-Christmas program.
Rick and Micki McKinnon created the program to ensure that local nonprofits that support our community’s most vital needs continue to receive funding as the economy tightens.
We were just so impressed with the kids at the Boys & Girls Club,” said Rick McKinnon regarding why the Boys & Girls Club was selected as the month of May’s recipient. “We knew we wanted to do more.”
Each month, the McKinnon’s State Farm agency, located in Kennewick, will donate a $1,500 gift to a charity of choice. Not only did the McKinnons assess the areas they felt needed support, their employees were also asked to make suggestions and add their input.
The 12 charities selected this year in calendar order are: 2nd Harvest, Salvation Army, Columbia Basin College, Catholic Family Services, Boys & Girls Club, Positive Life Radio, Red Cross, School Supplies, Habitat for Humanity, Coats for Kids, Toys for Tots and the Union Gospel Mission.
The McKinnons hope that their gift helps inspire others and that the 12-months of Christmas becomes contagious and provides each charity involved with an added boost.
The Boys & Girls Club will use the $1,500 donation to provide scholarships to kids to ensure that no child is left without a safe and positive place to go after school.
